Jeff’s Holland field trip.

Last week I took a break from my Paris vacation to visit Nunhems’ global headquarters in The Netherlands. Nunhems is one of the world’s leading vegetable seed companies. They are also a Rizen Client.

Put simply, Nunhems breeds, produces and process the seeds used to grow much of the onion, carrot, lettuce and other vegetables that you eat every day. But that’s just the begin. Nunhems is a very customer-orientated business that helps its customers through an incredible amount of research and development, in-the-field growing knowledge, and much more.

While Rizen mostly works with Nunhems in the USA, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit the birthplace of this tremendous company. So my wife and I hopped a train from Paris to Brussels then Brussels to Roermond, a small city of about 50,000 people in southern Holland. Generously, Nunhems Brand Manager Uwe Dijkshoorn offered to pick us up at the train station and taxi us five miles to the charming town of Nunhem where Nunhems is based.

There, after a brief meeting (thanks Claudia!), we enjoyed lunch at company commissary and then received a tour of the beautiful campus from Uwe. It is absolutely stunning. A former estate and monastery, the Nunhems campus is filled with beautiful building, large trees and even a “castle.”

The visit was a highlight of our vacation. We feel very grateful for the time the Nunhems team took to spend with us. Thank you!

The Nunhems "castle" was once the home of a wealthy businessman.
