What did you want to be in 6th Grade?
What did you want to be when you grew up when you were in 6th Grade?
For at least one student we met this week, the answer is “artist.” Devin came into the office for a couple of hours for a job shadow project at school. He learned what we do and why we do it. Hopefully, he enjoyed visiting as much as we enjoyed having him.
His visit also prompted us to ask the question of our team. Here are the answers:
Steve: “At the time I was in sixth grade, I was starting to become interested in ice skating. It started to take up a lot of my time. I was a pretty immature kid in the sixth grade, but if I was ever thinking about a possible career, it would have been a professional athlete (figure skater or ice hockey).”
Jen: “I wanted to be a teacher or artist… or an art teacher.”
Katie: “A supermodel horse trainer. Still possible…in my next life.”
Tom: “It was a mix between architect and marine biologist – so I guess you could say that I wanted to be Aquaman but then I saw ‘Jaws’. Nah, go with architect.”
Ron: “Two things were most important to me living in Hawaii as a kid, skateboards and music. What did I want to be when I grew up in the 6th Grade . . . Gene Simmons of the rock group KISS!
Jeff: “Veternarian, but that was until I found out where they have to stick their hands.”

When I was in 6th grade I wanted to be a Rock Star! So I grew up and became a Rock Star. I should have decided back that that I wanted to be a “rich” Rock Star! Now I just want to be back in 6th grade again.
ReplyI wanted to be trucker….I thought that would be SOOO cool….the really interesting part, I may still get my wish.
